Today we’re checking out Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa in Santa Fe, the PERFECT wintertime getaway for pets and their people. Bishop’s Lodge is a great pet-friendly place to stay in New Mexico, featuring lots of running space and fresh, tasty snow–YUM! Wow – check out the historic Lamy Chapel – great up and down action here! And plenty of room to roam at this 450 acre resort!

Jacuzzi time, or maybe I’ll just lounge poolside – talk about pet friendly! At check-in pets receive a warm welcome from the staff and even a doggie treat! Off to my suite to relax. A cracklin’ fire, gourmet doggie biscuts — pets get the whole package! I give Bishop’s Lodge my special “5 PAWS” rating.

Built in 1929, Sierra Grande Lodge is on the National Register of Historic Places. The transformations it has undergone in the many years since its origination as the first bathhouse have been extensive and varied. The Vera Hotel has undergone many transformations since it was floated down the Rio Grande from Elephant Butte to perch high above the town of Truth or Consequences. The Vera Hotel now serves as our conference & meeting facility purchased in 1991 by Serge & Guy Raoul, of Raouls Restaurant in NYC.

Serge discovered the area through friend and local artist, Delmas Howe, and was deeply moved by the power of the water, earth and spirits of the region. He wanted to honor these, while re-establishing the tradition of healing, transformation and self-discovery. Sierra Grande Lodge, as the original bathhouse, tapping the source of the geothermal water was his natural choice to establish such a place. The transformations and renovations have been extensive and on many levels. Even if you are just passing through we encourage you to stop in for a tour and of course a soak in the magical Hot Spring water.

Nestled at the base of stunning Kachina Peak above the European-style village of Taos Ski Valley, offers guests the comfort and charm of an authentic alpine ski alm amid the majesty of New Mexico’s storied Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

This warm and welcoming guesthouse, constructed of logs and furnished with European antiques, provides ski-in/ski-out convenience while dispensing Old World hospitality. Four spacious guest suites, two with full kitchens, accommodate parties large and small, and the nationally acclaimed restaurant serves up Bavarian specialties on its sunny outdoor deck or in the cozy dining room.

In addition to the lodge’s suites, The Bavarian now offers its new Chalets, a carefully phased expansion. The development’s initial phase of six chalets consists of three, three-bedroom units that are 1,951 square feet and feature ski-in/ski-out access as well as all the amenities of the adjacent Bavarian Lodge & Restaurant.

Secluded but sociable, opulent yet casual, The Bavarian is a magical retreat that brings you a taste of the Bavarian Alps in the American Southwest.
